OUTER SHELL FABRIC ADVANTAGES
The outer shell of the Styx Mill 111X Level 2 Fire Fighting suit is unique in the fact that it is woven with a double weave of a blend of Meta and Para aramid fibres with a percentage of antistatic. This combination gives low-weight, high strength, protection and breathability properties, in particular achieving an outstanding breathability rating of RET 13.7
- Superior UV performance giving a longer fabric life. The UV sensitive para-aramid fibres are woven in to the back of the fabric, under the more UV resistant meta-aramid front. This protects them from UV degradation and gives a much longer fabric life in UV exposure.
- Excellent fabric colour retention. The meta-aramid fabric front is spun dyed. This significantly improves light fastness, reduces UV degradation and maintains the colour integrity.
- Lightweight thermal insulation & heat protection. The outer shell is a double sided cord/rib construction giving the fabric a slight “corrugated” appearance, a major advantage in reducing fabric mass weight to 205gsm. This design allows air to be trapped in between the face and inner sides of the double weave, improving thermal insulation, heat protection and breathability.
MOISTURE THERMAL BARRIER “EOLINER” ADVANTAGES
The moisture thermal barrier is a rib weave of large diameter recycled aramid fibre, as a weft insert to a non-woven meta-para-aramid blend. This fabric is then laminated with an E-PTFE membrane, giving a layer that is superior for fire resistant properties, water pressure penetration and breathability (Ret).
- Lightweight higher performance fabrics. The physical structure of the large diameter yarn creates “canals” of trapped air between this liner and the outershell and lining, which give a very high degree of insulation and breathability for the weight.
- Why is this EOLINER moisture barrier better? Most products on the market have trapped air spaces created by dots of silicon rubber foam. The thick yarns in the EOLINER complex are not compressible and so retain their trapped air and insulation better under compression. Over the garment life, the thick yarn used in EOLINER is much better that that of a rubber foam, meaning as abrasion occurs between the outer shell and lining, the liner’s dimensions do not change.
INNER BODY LINING ADVANTAGES
This body liner is a woven high twist yarn comprising of a blend of Meta-Aramid, FR Viscose and antistatic fibre. The major advantage is that it is a very open weave with the viscose improving the next to skin moisture management.
